The DI match up of the week was the much anticipated tilt between Navy and Penn State. Navy Club went to Happy Valley and nipped Penn State Club by a 7-4 final to claim the number 2 spot in this week’s DI All Pro President’s poll. Penn State falls to number 4 while Ohio University, at (5-0), ascends to number 3. Albany Club, with wins over Oswego and Plattsburgh sit in the fifth position. The Terps Lacrosse Club, despite being idle maintain the number 1 ranking that they’ve held all season.
In DII, the voters have spoken. Week 6 sees quite the shake up in the polls, with several new teams making an appearance in the top 25 as well as the reappearance of some teams that had dropped out because of the lack of games played. The trend seems to reflect that voters are rewarding teams that are scheduling more games. Despite close losses to ranked DII teams or DI powers, the voters are favoring the teams who have more than a couple of games under their belts.
West Chester holds the top spot and received 7 of 10 first place votes this week after a win over Liberty Conference DII rival St. Joseph’s. Akron jumps to 2nd in this week’s rankings with an impressive (8-0) record after sweeping their road trip through the state of Michigan. Kutztown, Louisville and Kentucky round out the top 5.
