Bulldogs Out Of The Dog House Early in 2020

The Mississippi State Bulldogs kicked their season off weeks before mots teams had even held tryouts, getting a heads-up on their Deep South Conference competition.

The Bulldogs opened their 2020 campaign versus MCLA rival South Eastern Louisiana at home on January 25th. The Bully’s got off to a quick start offensively, maintained their lead and defeated the Lions 12-9

Mississippi State is looking to build off a strong 2019 in which they finished with 7 wins and only 2 losses in the Deep South Division 2 conference.

This past weekend, the Bulldogs shuttled to Knoxville Tennessee to face Deep South Conference opponent UT Chattanooga as well as the Volunteers from the MCLA.

State managed to pull off an exciting 8-7 victory over a UT Chattanooga before facing off with a large Volunteer squad that finished 3-8 in 2019. Despite a strong defensive effort by the Bulldogs, the Vols simply had too many numbers and downs the visitors from Mississippi State, 11-5 That game showed us a lot of things we can improve on, and we are excited to take on some more competitive teams this year!

Mississippi State Team President Ryan Hartley was pleased with his squads strong start managed to take away a positive lesson from the loss to the Vols. “That game showed us a lot of things we can build and improve on,” Hartley noted. “We are really excited to take on more competitive teams like the Volunteers this season!”

The Bulldogs have a few weeks off before the next games on February 22nd, when they host Furman and Morehouse College.
