The next challenge for Maryland comes this Thursday evening when the undefeated Terps begin Chesapeake Conference play, facing off against the undefeated Loyola Greyhounds (DI Chesapeake Conf, 2-0)
The Maryland Terrapins rounded out a busy weekend with a resounding 9-4 win over local MCLA rival, George Washington University.
The home win gives the Terps (DI, Chesapeake Conf.) a 3-0 start to their 2019 campaign, after downing both Morgan State and Georgetown earlier in the week by the score of 8-2. The Terps have made this early season match with GWU a regular season event dating back to 2016. Maryland defeated the Colonials 10-2 in 2018.
Offensively, Maryland was lead by co-captain Troy Hensh’s 2 goals.
Maryland President Justin Tab stated that he has no quarrels facing their MCLA crosstown foe. We chatted with the Senior who was knee deep in midterms, but wanted to give props to the Colonials for continuing to take on the Terps year after year, despite having left the NCLL. “Even though George Washington is in the MCLA instead of the NCLL, we always make an effort to play them because they’re a solid squad who enjoys a competitive game. Thank you for coming down GW, and good luck with the rest of your season!”
The Colonials who left the NCLL in 2014, finished 5-4 in the Southeastern Conference of the MCLA in 2018.
