Long possessions coupled with a relentless riding game and a vast arsenal of shooters propelled #2 West Chester to their second straight victory, as the hosts defeated the Lehigh Mountain Hawks at Farrell Stadium 11-6.
For his part, senior Andrew Mallett led a critical first half defense as the visiting netminder had a masterful 8 saves in the first half, as the Rams were on the offensive side of the ball for most of the night.
The Rams led 4-2 at half before scoring five unanswered goals in an explosive 3rd quarter to take command. The scoring barrage lasted almost 9 minutes as West Chester raced out of halftime after posting 4 tallies in 30 minutes of the first half.
The Rams were led offensively by Jerry Riccardo and an explosive EMO unit. Ricccardo scored 3 straight in the first half after the teams were deadlocked at 1 apiece.
Running mates Robert Amanto, Nolan Crognale and Brock Dannunzio each contributed two goals while Chris Warner pitched in with a goal and two assists.
Stevie Roda had a goal and Anthong Riccardo had a nice assist as the hosts also led the statistical category at the X. Jack Feeney, Isaias Lewis-Harris and Nick Siclia went 13 for 18 for a team 72% win total.
Not to be outdone between the pipes, West Chester’s own netminder had 10 saves for the evening as sophomore Brady Emmi saved his best for the last quarter tallying 5 saves as Lehigh keep up the offensive pressure.
Next up for the Golden Rams is a tough UPenn team that currently ranks 18th in Division I.
